This position resides in the Human Resources Branch and reports directly to the Senior Human Resources Manager. The Department’s workforce consists of approximately 623 employees. The individual in this position will provide professional level human resources work in a variety of functional areas within the Human Resources division in support of the Department and its employees.
This position will serve as an HR Generalist supporting a broad range of HR functions including Staffing, HR Operations, and classification and compensation. Ensures efficient, accurate and timely delivery of HR services.
Major responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Performs full cycle recruitment functions. Develops job announcements for posting to various sites. Coordinates with hiring supervisors regarding resume review and hiring list development. Ensures that candidates meet minimum qualifications. Provides guidance to both supervisors and candidates throughout the process. Prepares hiring packets including salary recommendations for approval routing.
- Performs full scope of HR Operational duties to include the entry of employee and position transactions, the review and recommendation to allocate and process classification actions for agency, ensuring compliance with Personnel Rules, FLSA, and ADOA Compensation Guidelines, maintaining agency organizational charts, personnel files and medical files.
- Provides professional and technical assistance to internal/external customers in routine inquiries in area of expertise, provides assistance in answering requests for information on policies and procedures, providing technical assistance to all employees, supervisors and Leadership regarding performance appraisals, AZ360, classifications, and compensation.
On-boarding of new employees, I-9 verifications, and instructs new hires on benefits enrollment. Assists all benefit eligible employees with open enrollment and qualified life event changes.
- Prepares and analyzes various ad hoc reports including salary reports and makes recommendations to the Human Resources Branch Chief regarding entry and promotional salaries.
- Attends meetings, conferences and training related to the area of assignment.
- Participates on Department process improvement teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
The candidate must have knowledge in general HR principles; Arizona State Personnel System rules, federal and state employment statutes, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures such as FLSA and FMLA; job classification designation; Google Suite and /or Microsoft Office products; AZ360, HRIS, and Arizona Management System (AMS).
Candidates must be skilled in organization and planning, record keeping, and various computer software such as Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel; Google Suite applications. Must be skilled with strong oral and written communication, with the ability to actively listen, problem solve and prioritize work and tasks to ensure program deliverables. Interpret rules, policies and procedures and research and perform data analysis.
Candidates must have the ability to work well with a diverse group of HR staff, employees and job applicants, be willing to adjust to changing project priorities and leadership needs, effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects and responsibilities, maintain confidentiality, work independently, and organize and manage a complex and varied workload.
