Job Summary:

Operations Manager for Pioneer Historic Site in Flagstaff, and supervisor of guest experience staff, requiring a wide range of business skills and customer service acumen for today's rapidly changing environment. Ability to build and maintain community partnerships, and the ability to identify programming that holds the most promise for agency growth and sustainability. Interface with vide presidents as follows: Exhibitions, Education and Publications for final approval of any programs, exhibitions, or publications; Library, Archives and Collections regarding all aspects relating to artifacts and archives; Marketing, Communication,s and Revenue enhancement regarding all public relations and marketing inquiries, and statewide facilities manager regarding all buildings and properties issues. Manage and oversee daily business operations and present the agency within neighboring communities and partner organizations. Manage earned revenue generation. Responsible for coordinating the safe operation of the facility to meet visitor needs and coordinating all inspections with the statewide facilities manager.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Respond to all inquiries from AHS Vice President, Directors, Human Resources, and Facilities staff; prepare and subrnit monthly reports; consistently adhere to AHS and State policies and procedures; help meet financial goals detailed in the budget; address al emergencies and ensure proper security; promote the mission of AHS through community presentations and participation in local organizations

• Model professional behaviors that encourage staff and volunteers to maintain positive morale and to promote a good public opinion of AHS; enhance and promote cooperation between site staff and the AHS team; work as an effective team member with AHS staff and community partners to complete projects, enforce policies, and attain goals, meeting deadlines and objectives

• Coordinate employee/volunteer meetings to keep open lines of communication; provide local volunteers with effective coaching and feedback to improve performance; provide and create a positive and supportive work environment, maintain good working relationships with employees and volunteers, and between the site and in the local community; coordinate ongoing training of volunteers

• Serve as liaison to local community advisory groups and organizations, including NAPHS, coordinating, participating, and attending meetings as the Society's local representative; address all customer concerns in a timely, proactive, and professional manner, ensuring that any issues/complaints are resolved; actively identify ways to improve customer experiences by addressing their needs

• Manage and merchandize store, rental, and other earned revenue enterprises in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team, schedule approved promotional events to increase sales and visitation, maintain regularly advertised operational hours for the site, and work with local partners to promote the site in the community in coordination with Marketing and Communications

• Supervise staff and volunteers who work the guest experience desks at agency museums and sites outside of Flagstaff as directed, ensuring a consistent, warm, welcoming, guest experience, and fulfillment of the AHS guiding statement

• Work with AHS staff to identify local funding sources to support programming, facilities, and staff; maintain a good relationship with local school districts and leaders; update all important information promptly and share such information broadly with AHS staff and other pertinent local and regional partners as directed by supervisor

• Responsible for stewardship of designated property in coordination with Statewide Facilities Manager; monitor and report needs to SFM, proactively identify and address security issues, and consistently maintain security and maintenance standards for the site and equipment utilized therein; document in writing and report verbally security concerns or incidents promptly

• Promote and facilitate the presentation of well-researched and age-specific programming developed by the AHS content teams; evaluate such programming for its effectiveness with the marketing team; promote a professional museum presentation to the general public in the physical integrity and appearance of the facilities; maintain current knowledge of museum professional standards/best practices for accredited museums

• Develop, create, and seek out new and better ways to conduct the duties of this position; strive to make the work processes more efficient and effective; implement cost-saving measures wherever possible; bring forward ideas that may result in improvements in revenue generation or better services to the State of Arizona

• Degree in business, historic preservation, history, or museum administration of related fields

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona Driver's License
