Job Summary:

This position designs, develops and administers business critical databases. Is responsible for the integrity and security of databases. Creates, implements and maintains monitoring, maintenance and backup schedules for databases. Designs logical and physical database schema. Creates packages and jobs used to exchange data with customers both internal external. Assists in the installation and support of databases used in purchased software as well as internally developed software solutions. Maintains an inventory of services and databases. Works with infrastructure Protection to ensure the security of databases and data.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Support, maintain and manage all FMIS SQL Databases in all current and future FMIS environments.

Collaborate with Application developers, Cloud Architects, Server Engineers, IT operational staff and Project managers to deliver database design, database solutions, and configurations that meet requirements.

Develop and test database migration procedures. Documents data requirements, database design, and operating procedures.

Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains databases(s). Proactively solves complex problems. Implement and review appropriate security guidelines/mechanisms.

Develops database administration tools/utilities/operation procedures. Performs database maintenance functions as required in production to avoid performance degradation, fault and data loss.

Knowledge:
• General working knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc.
• Google Workspace.

• Install and support relational database management systems (RDMS).

• Apply creative solutions to business problems to ensure business needs are most effectively met.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor's degree plus 5 or more years of experience in database administration (or equivalent experience).

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
