The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Nursing Manager. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high-quality, and member-driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
This is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Nurse Case Management Program consisting of nurses reporting directly to this position. This position monitors program performance to assure conformance with rules and regulations per Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and the Division policy. Program services include health care monitoring with a focus on preventative health care, health education, and discharge planning. The position reviews and responds to member complaints, grievances, and unusual incident reports (UIR) as related to Health Care Services (HCS). In-state travel to all District sites and offices as needed for presentations or technical assistance to the Districts. In collaboration with peers, develops publications related to the program and participates in presentations to professional groups. This position also participates in AHCCCS surveys and annual reviews.
Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develops, implements, manages, and evaluates a system that provides for community nursing support to developmentally disabled members. Assists in development of policy and procedure of program. Assumes regional nursing responsibility for the District.
- Assigns caseloads, monitors work activities, nursing assessments, skilled nursing hours, conducts meetings, and provides assistance in resolving conflicts. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, retention, and evaluation of work performance of employees. Conducts training seminars and statewide nurses meetings.
- Reviews and investigates UIRs that pertain to health issues, monitors quality of care issues, ventilator dependent in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and residential settings. Analyzes and interprets data in order to identify trends with Division members.
- Provides health education to staff and telephone triage or on-site in the community for acute problems. Responsible for team building and coordination of work between Support Coordinators, Nurses, and other community partners.
- Provide medical assistance to CMO and Medical Director(s) when needed. Attend District meetings on behalf of the HCS Administrator when needed.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Experience using database systems to track, trend and provide analysis of data. Must abide by nursing regulations.
- Prefer experience using database systems to track, trend and provide analysis of data. Accredited Case Manager (ACM) or Certified Case Manager (CCM) certification preferred. Must abide by nursing regulations.
