The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking to fill the Correctional Records Time Computation Manager position with a leader who oversees the operation of the Offender Information (OIU) areas, such as count/movement, release packets, detainers, parole board, and releases.

This position also supervises staff and develops a training schedule, attends and conducts staff meetings, and interprets court commitment orders to ensure accuracy and legality at the Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) - Eyman.

Job Duties:

-Supervises and evaluates staff performance
-Reviews, updates, and writes internal operating procedures, reports, and instructions
-Facilitates inmates' telephonic hearings
-Reviews and finalizes inmate's release paperwork
-Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers regarding problems or questions affecting the work system
-Processes untried detainers and US Treaty packets
-Instructs the Offender Information Unit (OIU) and complex staff on OIU responsibilities
-Identifies differing areas of inmates’ release procedures, release date calculations, detainer and warrant procedures and laws, and areas of public information legalities
-Interprets policies and procedures and provides technical support
-Acts as liaison and coordinates statewide inmate movement
-Responds to correspondence and telephone inquiries from courts, inmates, ADCRR staff, attorneys, and the public
-Attends court on behalf of ADCRR for extradition hearings
-Inspects and audits staff workloads and processes
-Takes corrective action regarding staff’s performance and discipline
-Plans and develops improvements, including changes in staff assignments
-Assign special projects
-Manages budget as required for the operations of the OIU
-Attends briefings, meetings, and seminars
-Conducts staff meetings with unit staff
-Assists in making recommendations for policy and procedural changes
-Assist in updating the count sheets, i.e., bed missing on the count sheet or inmate showing in two or more different beds
-Provides support and guidance in updating and correcting errors in the Arizona Correctional Information System (ACIS)
-Trains new staff on ACIS or OIU job functions
-Participates in providing recommendations and input for ACI's screens
-Completes assigned special projects and related administrative tasks
-Ensure appropriate security practices are implemented and incidents are documented
-Drives on State business
-Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-Work management and supervision principles and techniques
-Federal and state laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing offender records and provisions to release offender information
-Interstate Agreement on Detainer laws and procedures
-Criminal codes, sentence and parole laws, and functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and law enforcement agencies
-Board of Executive Clemency policies and procedures as they apply to offender releases
-Administrative office practices and procedures

-Comprehending and interpreting legal court documents, orders, detainers, warrants, criminal codes, sentence and parole laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures governing offender records, security, and release of information

Selective Preference(s):

-Three (3) years of experience in a related field

Pre-Employment Requirements:

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
