This position's primary purpose is to perform hydrologic fieldwork and is responsible for data collection in support of the Department's programs. Specifically groundwater level measurements, stream flow measurements, well discharge measurements, plus the occasional assistance with the operation & maintenance, downloading, and uploading of transducer well data from well sites.
This position is expected to maintain and input data into ADWR databases. Drafting of hydrologic reports and field summaries for management and the general public. Must be able to four-wheel drive off road to many well sites, work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, walk with water-level measurement equipment sometimes over a half a mile to well site and lift equipment up to 10-20 lbs. with flexibility to maneuver around well site.
The person in this position may occasionally assist with the repair and installation of automated well sites and therefore be able to lift supplies/equipment up to 60 lbs. Contacts owners for permission to measure, travels to well sites to make measurements using electrical sounders, steel tape, etc. and maintains contact and well site information in Master Section files.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. A minimum of two days on-site at the ADWR office per week is required.
The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility, autonomy, and trust. Across our many agencies, boards, and commissions, many State employees participate in the State’s Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes, in offices, and in hoteling spaces. All work, including remote work, should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for performing timely field investigation in accordance with ADWR guidelines and procedures. Measures groundwater levels in wells. Identifies and makes arrangements to measure water levels in wells and conduct well site inventories for inclusion into ADWR-GWSI database.

- Enters measured water level data and related site data into the GWSI database and owner monitoring permission information into ADWRs databases. Contributes to the development and maintenance of GWSI  and monitoring site files: updates well site data such as photos, site and water use, well location/maps, pump/lift data, MP information and datums, log data, well construction, and other hydrologic parameters as needed.

- Assists with the installation of automated groundwater level monitoring devices into wells. Includes well site preparation and installation of pressure transducers or other such automated monitoring devices, GOES radios, data loggers, solar panels, shelters, voltage regulators, etc. Visits automated well sites to download recorded water level data from data logger systems and operation and maintenance (O&M) as needed.
