Job Summary:

Responsible for oversight of transportation data governance, coordination, Federal reporting, Information production, and technical support within the Data and Information Group.

The position is also responsible for the management of geospatial data interfaces in the form of dashboards and story maps.

This role requires a deep understanding of leadership, management, database software, statistical analysis, and geospatial information systems.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Manages and leads professional employees under the general direction of the Data and Information Manager and is responsible for the supervision of the Data Analytics team.

Work closely with other agencies, divisions, and sections to provide data support, informational interfaces, data analysis, and general technical support.

Create and support a professional and productive work environment and ensures staff has all the necessary knowledge, tools, and training to accomplish their assignments.

Represent MPD/ADOT in meetings and at conferences and symposiums. Develops and writes documentation for scoping of projects, work plans, and budgets.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Principles/practices of engineering disciplines related to transportation.
- GIS hardware/software.
- Database design techniques and maintenance methods.
- Industry recognized data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
- ADOT’s Traffic/Road Inventory Programs and asset management policies and practices.
- Statistical analysis methods and procedures.
- FHWA regulations pertaining to performance/asset management and reporting requirements.

Skill in:
- Use of GIS hardware/software.
- Use of databases.
- Written and oral communication.
- Management/leadership techniques.
- Project management.

Ability to:
- Grasp complex concepts.
- Give presentations to a variety of groups.
- Manage time effectively.
- Prepare reports as needed.
- Successfully interact with subordinates, superiors, officials and the public.

Selective Preference(s):

Accredited education, training, and experience in Urban/Regional Planning. Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Three years of work experience in programming, database management, and GIS (including ESRI software applications). Familiarity/work experience in asset management, traffic/mobility analysis, and safety data.

Supervisory experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Valid driver's license with acceptable 369 month MVR
