Under the general direction of the Physical Plant Supervisor, this position is mainly responsible for maintaining State owned facilities which includes physical structures, mechanical and electrical systems, utilities and responsibility for requesting purchase orders and maintaining required documentation associated with time keeping. This position will utilize working knowledge of building systems codes, OSHA requirements as well as safe working techniques and procedures. This position will work independently with limited supervision and effectuate positive task outcomes for agency customers and stakeholders. This position may be asked to accommodate emergency work after hours, as well as leading and training subordinates when applicable.
Maintain and repair physical building structures, HVAC systems, electrical systems, water systems and associated equipment.
Diagnose repair issues. Research best solutions for making repairs. Oversee contractor based projects. Personal customer contact and interaction.
Preventative maintenance and building inspection; filets, lights, flooring, HVAC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
• National and local building codes.
• Estimating cost and ordering materials.
• Common and specialized tools, equipment and materials related to the building trade such as carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, masonry, cement work and electrical work.
• Repair methods and maintenance practices for structures, furnishings, and equipment.
• Work safety practices.
• Blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings and related utilities services systems.•
• Methods and practices involved in remodeling, construction, installing and replacing major utilities services.
Skill in:
• Using diagnostic equipment.
• Oral and written communication.
• Safety procedures and practices including utilizing power equipment.
• Prioritizing assignments in order of importance.
Ability to:
• Work efficiently with computers.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships.
One year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician.

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
