This position will serve as an Independent Assurance Sampling (IAS) and Testing Technician and will be responsible for obtaining IAS from projects in the Prescott Region and monitor project compliance with ADOT's Quality Assurance Program. This position will ensure all sampling and testing is performed in accordance with ADOT's Materials Testing Manual and Standard Specifications. Monitor test results and work with other project labs to resolve any discrepancies in test results. Coordinate the sampling of highway construction materials, verify calibration of testing equipment and maintain project materials records. This position will also perform a full range of laboratory testing on aggregates, soils, asphaltic concrete, and Portland cement concrete as well as generate laboratory test summaries, reports, spreadsheets and research. Duties may require technician to work weekends, holidays, and varied work hours, as well as travel overnight.
Coordinate the sampling and testing of highway construction materials in accordance with ADOT's Quality Assurance Program. Travels to construction projects throughout the region to sample construction materials.
Performs laboratory testing on a full range of materials used in the construction of highways including soils, aggregate, asphaltic cement, and Portland cement concrete. Observes construction technicians performing test procedures in the field for conformance with ADOT test methods. Inspects equipment used in construction projects throughout the region to ensure the equipment meets agency requirements for construction of ADOT projects.
Inputs and analyzes laboratory test results in the computer database (FAST). Routinely and effectively solve problems related to non-correlating test results between labs. Generates lab reports, summaries, spreadsheets and research as assigned by the Prescott Regional Laboratory Supervisor.
Five years of construction or materials testing experience.
Valid driver's license. - This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

American Concrete Institute: Concrete Strength Testing, Field Technician Grade 1
