The Permanency and Youth Services Unit supports transition age youth who are experiencing foster care. The Unit strives to offer youth centered supports and services in order to ensure young people are prepared to live outside of the foster care system.
The Transitional Housing Coordinator will support housing opportunities for young adults in Extended Foster Care. They will work with community partners, contracted providers, DCS Specialists and youth to determine which housing option best meets their needs. They will provide technical assistance to Contracted Provider, as well as oversight and monitoring of the programs to ensure a positive experience for young adults.
Experience working with adolescents or young adults.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social work, psychology, counseling or other related fields with 1 year of experience in working directly with young people in Housing programs or Arizona's foster care system. (Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the above mentioned fields will substitute for one year of experience.) or an Associates degree in an accredited college or university in education, social work, psychology, counseling or other related fields with 3 year of experience in working directly with young people in Housing programs or Arizona's foster care system.
Requires the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration. Mileage may be reimbursed, if applicable. Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from DCS Central Registry.
