Job Summary:

The Extended Foster Care (EFC) Consultant provides direct coaching and oversight to EFC Success Coach Program Providers in order to ensure successful implementation of the EFC Success Coach Program. The EFC Consultants will be responsible for group coaching sessions to EFC Success Coaches and their supervisors on how to engage youth in a coach-like way and provide strengths-based case management as needed for youth and young adults participating in the Extended Foster Care. They will organize and facilitate Age of Majority (AOM) meetings for youth in out of state Behavioral Health facilities at 17.5 and older and all become trained trainers of Youth Thrive, and the DCS Specific training. They will track coaches with the contracted providers, and report and monitor the Fidelity of the program model. The EFC Consultants will be experts in Arizona’s Young Adult Program, as well as the BH system with an emphasis on DCS’s Extended Foster Care Program.

Job Duties:
  • Meet with their assigned providers weekly for the first 6 months of services and monthly thereafter, or at a dosage decided by the Consultant. Conduct observations of supervision sessions, and supervision to provider supervisors which could include group supervision.
  • Provide directly to all new staff the Youth Thrive and DCS Specific training. Provide coaching, consultation and certification on, Youth Thrive, DCS program specific training to the contracted providers; support or facilitate Age of Majority (AOM) staffing’s meetings; and support contractors case planning for young adults who demonstrate high level needs, such as higher levels of behavioral health or medical support.
  • Monitor quarterly regional young adult focus groups, assess and support staffing cases of disengaged youth and contractor EFC Success Coaching Quarterly meetings. Participate in EFC Reviews when determined to be a need in problem solving.
  • Travel to Contract providers to support delivery of service and be responsible for the fidelity and compliance of the service delivery. Assess and support staffing specific cases to ensure fittingness of EFC Success Coach case assignment that fully supports the young adult’s needs and provide recommendations of case re-assignment (if needed).
  • Organize and facilitate AOM meetings and other staffing for youth in out of state Behavioral Health facilities and those who may be in states of incarceration or detention.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration. Mileage may be reimbursed, if applicable. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social work, psychology, counseling or other related fields with 1 year of experience in working directly with transition age youth in Arizona's foster care system. 

(Preferred Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the above mentioned.)

Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.
