This position is responsible for conducting and evaluating statewide inspection programs for public facing industries that fall under ADOT for regulatory oversight. Reviews and examines various required documentation regarding private and other governmental organizations. This position will make recommendations based upon inspection/audit findings. Required to drive state vehicle for travel.
Facilitate meetings with owners or representatives statewide; conduct compliance inspections verifying compliance with required guidelines and code of federal regulations, state and local laws; ensure the department's minimum training standards are being taught; issue appropriate reports for non-compliance and complete appropriate reporting process; provide recommendations to develop methods for improving their program operation.
Perform background research for evaluating the inspection assignment, including documentation for activity completed, prior audit and inspection reports, & contract & compliance requirements. Generate reports and data to ensure the overall efficiencies of the organizations are met. Analyze inspection procedures and provide recommendation for improvement as needed.
Maintain and track inspections and generate reports and data for management review. Prepare final reports and recommendations for upper management.
Knowledge of:
• Knowledge of ARS Title 28 & 32.
• Arizona Administrative Code and applicable Federal Regulations.
• Regulatory compliance inspection principles and auditing practices.
• MVD policies and procedures; programs and resources; including principles and practices of conducting compliance inspections.
Skills in:
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Conducting compliance inspections and regulatory reviews.
• Analyzing inspection findings and identifying corrective actions.
• Preparing inspection reports, correspondence, and statistical data.
• Utilizing internal databases and compliance tracking systems.
Ability to:
• Interpret and accurately apply state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and policies.
• Evaluate financial records, inventories, equipment, and training programs for compliance.
• Prioritize and manage multiple projects and inspection assignments to meet deadlines.
• Communicate findings and provide regulatory guidance verbally and in writing.
• Develop professional working relationships with regulated entities and stakeholders.
• Operate a state vehicle for required travel.
Two years’ experience in an office environment which includes preparing and providing oral and written responses to related questions from the general public, evaluating documents for completeness, high volume of email/phone calls and preparing reports.
A valid Arizona Driver's license, Class A CDL.
Certified Commercial Driver License Examination.
As this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
