Public Health Scientist 3 PHOENIX
This position is under the Office of Microbiology & Molecular Diagnostics which provides statewide clinical diagnostic and reference testing services for microbiological agents that aid in the diagnosis, management, and surveillance of infectious diseases that are of public health importance. This position is responsible for developing standard operating procedures for laboratory testing using various complex testing methods, with a focus on molecular methods such as next-generation sequencing. Additionally, the position will develop data analysis pipelines and conduct data validation to monitor various CQI metrics of next-generation sequencing for the office.

The position will be considered a subject matter expert who utilizes various platforms to perform their duties related to financial summaries, purchasing, accounting, procurement and others. On a regular basis, the position is tasked with presenting complex financial information to their assigned area in an accessible and easy to understand manner so that they are able to make decisions accordingly. They may also be responsible for reporting and managing overarching fund sources that other programs across the agency may leverage. This position may be tasked with providing coverage for the Division Finance Manager during times of absenteeism.
Lab Compliance Officer Sr PHOENIX
Performs work corresponding to the activities within the Quality Assurance and Improvement Office, Radiation Control, and the Laboratory Licensure and Certification Office. Assists or determines the issuing of licenses to laboratories (Medical Marijuana, Environmental, Clinical), maintaining current licenses (EPA, CLIA, ISO/IEC) for ASPHL by ensuring the minimum standards of proficiency, methodology, quality assurance, operation and safety, and ensuring compliance with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Conducts initial and annual inspections of laboratories, ionizing and non ionizing facilities to determine compliance with the Statutes or Rules. Review of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Conducts investigations of the operation of a licensed laboratory upon receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed laboratory performing compliance testing. This position is required to perform work at/attend meetings at alternate locations and/or travel (in and out of state) when necessary, possibly requiring a state, personal or rented vehicle.

Performs laboratory analyses on a variety of microbiological and/or chemical specimens. Interprets test results. Complies with quality control procedures. Records and reports test results. Assists with complex and specialized tests. Works with infectious, toxic, and/or other hazardous materials. Positions are responsible for quality analyses, accurate interpretation, recording test results and determine if samples are suitable for testing. Individual positions may be responsible for some or all of the duties listed below and/or other related duties: Performs, specialized microbiological and molecular biological testing procedures on specimens/samples submitted for laboratory analysis. Performs chemical tests to determine presence and/or extent of contamination by toxic, hazardous, and/or regulated chemicals. Performs quality control testing as required by regulations; maintains appropriate records. Records results of laboratory analyses, including such information as procedure followed, specific laboratory results, final identification, date reported. Performs preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments. Orders and reorders supplies for work unit as needed.

Under general supervision of the Bureau Chief, this position performs a broad range of operational and administrative functions that support multiple teams within the Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health (BWCH). The Bureau Operations Coordinator ensures efficient execution of procurement, administrative, and operational processes across the bureau. Key responsibilities include maintaining standard work, policies, and procedures; coordinating vendor contracts; managing records; handling mail; assisting with CAS/DRS/PRS entry; developing tracking tools; and overseeing inventory and supplies.
