The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Benefits Eligibility Supervisor for one of our Field Offices. This position supervises, plans and coordinates the operations of a program of one or more benefits and eligibility units involved in the determination and issuance of public assistance and/or social service benefits, and is responsible for effective supervision and administration of the divisions eligibility program(s) staff to include staff development and training, succession planning, performance management, and related activities, and works with other managers and staff to evaluate and implement goals, responsibilities, policies and procedures of the division. This position is an in-person, on-site position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and adjust workloads.
- Responsible for interpreting and clarifying program policies and procedures for staff and implementing regulations or policy changes affecting the day-to-day operation of the unit.
- Assist staff with difficult and complex cases, including providing consultation with employees, handling some cases personally, making decisions on controversial cases, and consulting with senior management on recommended actions.
- Prioritizes and assigns work of assigned unit(s) to maintain compliance with federal, state, and mandates; ensures the timeliness and accuracy of services delivered.
- Conduct quality control and error management and prevention in eligibility services program(s) to include conducting case reviews, evaluating accuracy, timeliness, and productivity utilizing quality and quantity data from program reports, identifying error trends, implementing corrective action plans, developing, and conducting related training.
- Evaluates staffing needs, participates on hiring panels, and makes recommendations for effective us of personnel resources.
- Assists with identifying suspected fraud cases, preparing summaries of facts for fraud and overpayment, representing the agency in hearings and court appeals, and taking appropriate action as required
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent education, and three years of experience performing eligibility work.
