The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an expert Graphic Designer. This position is responsible for leading and executing Arizona Correctional Industries creative initiatives across all channels. Balances strategic thinking with hands-on production, supporting brand development, campaign creativity, and marketing execution. Ensures visual consistency across the brand while maintaining high standards of quality and performance. Also collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, incorporates feedback, manages priorities, and contributes creative solutions that extend beyond assigned deliverables.

Job Duties:

- Develops creative concepts aligned with brand standards and campaign objectives
- Contributes to brand evolution, visual systems, and strategic direction across channels
- Executes high-quality and creative content across print collateral, signage, marketing materials, social graphics, digital ads, presentations, and other brand assets
- Ensures accuracy, consistency, and production readiness
- Partners with marketing, sales, leadership, and cross-functional teams to interpret creative briefs, manage feedback cycles, and deliver projects on time and within scope
- Serves as a creative resource for external partners and collaborators, ensuring brand alignment across co-branded materials, joint campaigns, and partnership initiatives
- Maintains brand standards across all creative outputs
- Reviews work for consistency, accessibility, compliance, and accuracy
- Identifies opportunities to improve creative workflows, templates, tools, and production efficiencies
- Stays current with design trends, tools, and best practices
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Graphic design principles, typography, color theory, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Brand strategy and visual identity systems across multiple platforms
- Digital marketing design requirements (email, social, web, paid media)
- Print production processes, file preparation, and vendor specifications
- Project work flows, creative briefing, and feedback management processes
- Creating and maintaining structured design systems that enable efficient production and long-term brand growth
- Familiarity with co-branding standards and partnership marketing environments

Skill in:
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After
Effects or Premiere a plus)
- Strong visual storytelling and concept development
- Effective presentations and communication when working with stakeholders
- Detail-oriented production, with high-quality control standards

Ability to:
- Balance creative strategies with hands-on execution
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
- Serve as a creative resource for third-party partnerships and cobranded initiatives, interpret creative briefs, and ask strategic clarifying questions
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Adapt to evolving priorities and organizational needs
- Elevate visual standards while maintaining operational efficiency
- Mentor and develop creative talent, fostering growth, accountability, and high design standards across the team
- Translate strategic objectives into compelling visual executions
- Manage multiple brands and maintain visual consistency
- Incorporate and respond constructively to feedback

Selective Preference(s):

- At least five (5) years working at a medium to large-sized business
- At least three (3) years of mentoring jr. graphic designers
- Portfolio showcasing both designs in print and digital work

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
