Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Correction, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a highly educated individual with the ability to serve as a Curriculum Specialist responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the Pre-service Training Academy curriculum and in-service learning programs.
This role will also support operational readiness, compliance, and staff development by conducting needs assessments, job-task analyses, and curriculum reviews.

Job Duties:

- Designs, writes, edits, and produces accessible instructional materials
- Ensures alignment between learning objectives, activities, and assessments
- Develops SCORM/xAPI-complaint e-learning modules and maintains templates and reusable components
- Ensures accurate course configuration within the LMS
- Conducts structured needs assessments and job-task analyses
- Maps training content to required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Implements multi-level evaluations (Levels 1-4) and provides analysis on training effectiveness
- Maintains the curriculum roadmap, version control, and policy-driven updates
- Coordinates with SMEs, training leadership, and operational stakeholders to ensure content remains aligned with agency priorities and emerging needs
- Develops prototypes and conducts pilot sessions using defined acceptance criteria
- Collects and analyzes pilot data, applies revisions, and ensures instructional quality, accuracy, and policy compliance
- Provides facilitator materials, train-the-trainer support, and instructional coaching
- Assists with Tier-1 troubleshooting for online learning
- Conducts compatibility checks, validates content, and completes basic LMS administration tasks such as enrollments, course updates, and reporting assistance
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Selective Preference(s):

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a field related to instructional design such as Adult Education, Communication, Organizational Development, Human Resources or Training and Development
- Work experience in State Corrections or other areas of law enforcement is highly desirable

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
