Administer the Board's day-to-day operations as mandated by law, regulation and Board policy. This work includes preparing for and supporting the regular Board meetings required to perform their functions as defined by law. Supporting, developing and managing Board staff; and developing, implementing, and managing internal policies, budget, licensing process, disciplinary enforcement process, assisted living caregiver, administrator and manager training and testing programs.
The Executive Director will review audit reports, meet with audit teams, implement required changes, hire, train and manage staff and maintain effective relationships with other state agencies, elected officials, private sector organizations, and the public.
The Executive Director will also ensure the Board complies with its own statutes and rules as well as other applicable Executive Orders, State and Federal statutes, such as Open Meeting Laws, Public Record Laws and other State regulations and any special initiatives required by the Board or as directed by the State.
Additionally, the position will provide training and technical assistance to long term care and assisted living facility professionals, the public and Board staff regarding Manager and Administrator licensing and certification requirements including any due process afforded the NCIA’s regulated community for alleged violations.
• Develop, implement, and manage the Board’s regular meetings required to perform their statutory responsibilities under permanent and session laws as well as responsibilities pursuant to Board policy and regulation and as required under Open Meeting Laws and best practices for public boards.
• Develop a strategic plan to be reviewed annually with goals aligned to the Board and Board staff responsibilities as a public agency.
• Oversee the budget and keep the Board apprised of revenue and cost needs and fluctuations.
• Develop and manage website and computer resources to ensure clear communication with the public and the Board’s licensees.
• Represent the Board and be the spokesperson and liaison to the public, other state agencies, administrative hearings, the Governor's Office and the Legislature.
• Ensure responsiveness to inquiries from the public and licensees, and represent the Board at professional associations and national meetings.
• Ensure steady communication with agencies and stakeholders relevant to the Board’s mission including industry leaders, and state agencies responsible for industry licensure and training that impacts the Board’s work and mission.
• Develop and prepare material for Board meetings, attend meetings, oversee preparation of meeting minutes and support staff readiness.
• Draft and lobby for the passage of Board statutes and rules pursuant to Board direction and in collaboration with the Governor’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office.
