Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the shop supervisor in day to day operations of the Equipment Services (EQS) Equipment Shop. The working Lead Technician performs Preventative Maintenance (PM's) and repairs, schedules vehicles for service and repair, and oversees preventative maintenance and repairs.

Job Duties:

Assigns work activities to repair technicians. Directs shop activities during supervisor's absence.

Assigns priorities to vehicles undergoing repair within the shop.

Reviews repair documentation for accuracy and completeness. Updates/maintains equipment service/repair records and prepares detailed inspection reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
* Power and drive train system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
* Electrical systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
* Electronic control systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
* Computerized diagnostic analyzers using procedures and practices.
* Hydraulic systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures.
* Operating principles of gasoline and diesel fueled internal combustion engines.
* Automotive shop safety principles and practices. Recordkeeping principles and practices.

Skill in:
* Diagnosing problems in mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or hydraulic systems in a wide variety of automotive/light/heavy construction equipment.
* Repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or hydraulic systems in a wide variety of automotive/light/heavy construction equipment.
* Performing safety/preventive maintenance inspections on a wide variety of automotive/heavy construction equipment.
* Using computerized diagnostic analyzer equipment.
* Estimating time cost of repair maintenance work for a wide variety of automotive/heavy construction equipment.

Ability to:
* Understand manufacturer's service and repair manuals, service bulletins and recall notices.
* Follow oral and written instructions.
* Diagnose issues quickly and accurately, and determine the best course of action to fix them.
* Prioritize tasks where equipment downtime needs to be minimized efficiently in high-demand environments.
* Utilize fleet data management databases,
* PCs and PC programs, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace..

Selective Preference(s):

5 years journey level experience and equipment shop leading experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Class B CDL within six months of employment.

EPA 609 Certification within 6 months of employment
