The Department of Economic Security, Human Resources Administration, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an ADA Supervisor. The ADA Supervisor oversees the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program and ensures actions adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, departmental structure and functions, and State and Federal employment laws, rules, and regulations. This position provides supervision, advice, guidance, and counsel to ADA staff and will be a resource for employees, management, and HR staff matters relating to the ADA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Provides daily supervision to the ADA/FMLA Coordinators in the HRA Medical Unit. Provides training to new
staff on how to facilitate all aspects of the ADA. Oversees workload distribution for ADA staff, oversees day to
day supervision of the ADA Team, reviews work, provides guidance, advice, and mentoring of staff. Assists in
the hiring of new staff. Performs coaching, discipline, and evaluation of subordinates.
● Coordinates ADA program for assigned employee distribution and incoming requests for ADA. Handles
complex and sensitive ADA cases which may require research and collaboration with HR leadership,
ADOA/State Agency peers, and Attorney General's Office. Reviews ADA requests, assures appropriate
documentation, and coordinates with supervisors and employees on Modified Duty. Works closely with the
FMLA Team to coordinate and facilitate processing of cases when needed.
● Serves as HRA representative, when necessary, at meetings, work groups, and committees in relation to the
nature and scope of the duties of this position. Oversees and develops standard work and helpful guidelines
for ADA Team and HR staff throughout the Agency. May serve as subject matter expert and provide guidance
and feedback regarding DES ADA policies and procedures.
● Provides technical assistance and advice to Agency Management and employees regarding ADOA Personnel
Rules and Regulation, Federal and State Regulations as it relates to ADA, DOL, and EEOC. This could
include coordinating meetings, consulting with the Attorney General's Office, on complex FMLA and ADA
issues, Director's Office of Equal Opportunity, HRA and Division leadership and various other DES entities.
● Conducts training for management, supervisors, and employees regarding HR-related policies and procedures
on ADA standard practices. Attends training and conferences to keep apprised of legal trends, changes in
law/policies, and to network with the professional community.

FMLA .

functions as defined by the Position Description.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
● HR Certification or Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field.
● 5 years of division level Human Resources experience with increased responsibility over time.
● At least 4 years of in-depth ADA and/or FMLA experience.

● If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State
business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a
motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license,
complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license
must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are
subject to Driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all
required driver training. An employee who operated a personally owned vehicle on state business shall
maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) (R2-10-201.11).
● Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the
above-mentioned process and the Agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
