The Aviation Maintenance Lab Instructor will serve as a pilot to fly students and provide lab instruction in the flight setting starting on the ground, while in flight, and on return to the hanger. This instruction includes, but is not limited to: • Weight and Balance Information • Pre-Flight Inspection • Pre-gauge takeoff checks • Cross Checks of instrumentation during take-off and flight • System functionality • Avionics Maintenance Operational Checks • Radio Operations • Characteristics of Aerodynamics • Post-Flight Inspection Requirements • Logbook Entries • Refueling Operations • Ground Handling Operations • Storage Requirements The lab instructor is responsible for the preparation and delivery of course content in response to student needs. He/she must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate specific technical skills in the lab, academy, or workshop setting to a diverse student population and have the ability to collaborate with students and peers in order to establish an environment where safety is not compromised. The lab instructor may be asked to complete special projects for the Aviation Maintenance Program and for other programs in the Technical Careers Division as assigned. This opportunity is for daytime, evening, and weekend work assignments.

Required Qualifications:
Fixed-Wing Pilot’s License with a minimum of 500 hours of flight time as a pilot in command.
High School Diploma or GED
Demonstrated teaching/instructional experience in an FAA Part 147 or higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years relevant industry experience
Federal Aviation Administration certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic license
Experience with the primary duty and responsibility of teaching students in instructional setting
