This position provides administrative support to the College of Liberal Arts, the Dean’s Office. Tasks include answering phone calls and greeting visitors; composing correspondence with faculty, students, and staff; maintaining files and reports using proper records retention protocols; monitoring and maintaining various budgets, including grant, state, and foundation funds; submitting paperwork for domestic and international travel; coordinating event planning; assisting multiple directors and points of contact for the various interdisciplinary programs; ordering materials and supplies; and performing other related tasks as needed. |

Traditional Advisors will work with students from the point of matriculation to graduation. The primary role of a traditional Advisor is to provide educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for different types of students. The traditional Advisor will monitor student progression and intervene as necessary to ensure students stay on track for graduation. The traditional Advisor is responsible for the retention of the students assigned to them and will have regular contact with the students to ensure they are aware of available interventions that could help the student succeed. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate student records using internal student tracking software to support the retention strategies and evaluate student progress and satisfaction. The Advisor will perform related tasks and special projects as assigned. Note: a flexible work schedule is required to accommodate student requests for advising after traditional work hours. |

* Verify the accuracy of the information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through review of Federal Tax Returns / IRS Tax Transcripts, W2's, MTSU Verification Worksheet, and other related documents. Identify and resolve conflicting information. Submit FAFSA corrections through the FAFSA Partner Portal when required.
* Review documentation submitted by students to resolve issues related to Federal data base matches with the Social Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security, and Office of Veterans Affairs.
* Assist the Assistant Director of Financial Aid regarding student Unusual Enrollment History reviews.
* Review the FAFSA suspense file and determine appropriate actions for processing.
*Contact other institutions and resolve Federal Pell Grant Multiple Reporting Record (MRR) issues.
* Confirm eligible citizenship and non-citizenship status for students who were not confirmed through the normal FAFSA citizenship match with Homeland Security by reviewing documentation or submitting documentation for third-step verification through the SAVE system.
* Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned. |
