Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Human Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#207020) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of lecture and studio courses, such as residential and commercial construction, contract and residential interiors, business practices, sustainable design, universal design, design theory, and codes. In addition, the successful candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchup Pro and have a working knowledge of the current interior design profession. Additionally, they should have experience with CIDA accreditation, standards, and processes and work closely with other faculty to maintain high program standards and CIDA accreditation.
Required Education
A master’s degree in interior design or a closely related area from an accredited college or university is required by the appointment date.
Required License/Registration/Certification
NCIDQ certification with a current certificate status is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in professional interior architecture and teaching at the university level, including online teaching. Also, applicants with the following certifications will receive special consideration:
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
- International Well Building Institute (WELL)
- Evidenced Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC)
