Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Communication Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#712070) at the rank of lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2024.

The successful applicant will teach dual enrollment communication studies courses on-site in area high schools and is expected to demonstrate teaching excellence in public speaking through evaluations by students and peers. The incumbent will teach sections of dual enrollment communication studies courses at a local high school and additional courses on the MTSU campus as needed to satisfy a full-time teaching workload every year. The sections will be offered as part of the normal high school course schedule and will conform to the high school academic calendar and bell schedule. The incumbent must communicate regularly with the high school administration and department chair at MTSU to coordinate planned course activities with the high school calendar.

Required Education

A master's degree in communication or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with at least three (3) years of university teaching experience will receive special consideration.
