Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Social Work at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#168020) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

As an R2 university, MTSU places a high value on teaching, research and service. The Department of Social Work seeks faculty members who are highly engaged and pursue interdisciplinary collaboration with potential for external funding in research, community engagement, and contracts. The department expects a collaborative, engaged, and student-centered approach to performance and responsibilities. Required Education

A PhD in Social Work or equivalent and a Master of Social Work from a CSWE accredited program are required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years post-master's of social work practice experience, including practice with individuals, families, communities or in policy and advocacy are required. One (1) year experience teaching in a higher education setting post-master's degree is required.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Licensed or license-eligible at the master of social work level is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with practice and research in innovative areas of social work such as sport social work, integrated behavioral and physical health and wellness, positive aging and age-friendly communities, and leadership and advocacy within an interdisciplinary perspective and scope will receive special consideration.
