Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#103250) in Forensic Chemistry at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic department with 33 full-time faculty members offering ACS-certified degrees in Chemistry and ASBMB accredited Biochemistry, a MS degree in Chemistry, and Ph.D. degrees in three interdisciplinary science programs (Computational Science, Molecular Biosciences, and Mathematics & Science Education). Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an externally, nationally recognized funded research program that will contribute to the accredited interdisciplinary B.S. program in Forensic Science.
  • Engage undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
  • Enthusiastically and effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic science and chemistry.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary B.S. program in Forensic Science.
  • Participate in departmental, college, university, and community service activities.
  • Contribute to one of the Ph.D. programs in Computational Science, Molecular Biosciences, or Mathematics and Science Education.

Required Education

A terminal degree in chemistry or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with post-doctoral experience will receive special consideration.
