Job Summary/Basic Function

The Womack Department of Educational Leadership at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#120440) for its Professional Counseling Program at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

The Professional Counseling Program offers a CACREP-accredited Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. The program offers trauma-informed classes, with a concentration on the effective treatment of trauma and its implications on clients’ overall wellness. In addition to the infusion of trauma, the program is dedicated to the promotion of cultural awareness and competency; therefore, the curriculum is anchored in a cultural and social justice framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate-level courses in professional counseling and other related courses as needed.
  • Supervising practicum and internship experiences.
  • Maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda.
  • Engaging in service to the program, department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Other responsibilities may include program development and assessment and dissertation and thesis supervision.

Required Education

A terminal degree in counselor education from a CACREP accredited program is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years of post-master’s experience working in a clinical or school setting.

Required License/Registration/Certification

Applicants must be license-eligible in the state of Tennessee.

Other Desirables

Applicants with the following will receive special consideration.

  • Formal training or experience in the supervision of student counselors.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience teaching at the university-level.
  • Evidence of or experience with teaching and developing online courses.
