Job Summary/Basic Function
The School of Concrete and Construction Management at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow position in Human-AI Interaction for telerobotic construction. This is a one-year temporary appointment with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. The start date may be as early as April 20, 2026.
Primary responsibilities will include: 1) assisting with grant proposal development, 2) writing peer-reviewed journal papers, and 3) leading research projects, including developing AI-based systems, designing interfaces, conducting experiments, and analyzing experimental data. Our research group (PI: Dr. Jin Sol Lee) aims to augment human cognitive and physical capabilities to enhance decision-making, efficiency, and safety in remote construction environments. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds who are willing to work with us to find solutions.
Required Education
A PhD in computer science, construction engineering, electrical engineering, human factors, psychology, kinesiology, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:
- Strong publication record.
- Experience in construction robotics and automation, including AI, Human-Robot Interaction or robotic control.
- Experience in technology/interface development (e.g., AI models, automations tools, or multimodal interfaces (visual, auditory, haptic, tactile)).
- Experience in VR/AR development and human-subject experiments.
- Strong analysis skills for behavioral or physiological data (e.g., eye-tracking, EEG, EMG, EDA).
