Job Summary/Basic Function

The ACEJMC-accredited School of Journalism and Strategic Media at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#143270) at the rank of Lecturer. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is January 1, 2024. The position is contingent upon funding.

The successful applicant will teach a combination of reporting, advanced reporting, and other journalism classes, including working with students in the digital news agency. The applicant's cover letter should clearly identify areas of teaching proficiency and a commitment to diversity and student success.

Required Education

A master's degree in journalism, mass communication, or a communication-related field is required.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years of teaching journalism/media-related courses or professional experience in journalism or a closely related field is required. A bachelor's degree with a minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, or other media areas may be considered in lieu of a master's degree.

Other Desirables

Applicants with leadership experience in a news agency or newsroom and those with previous teaching experience will receive special consideration.
