Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of University Studies at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#136240) at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Integrated and Professional Studies. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will work with students of varying abilities while teaching departmental courses in the Bachelor of Science Professional Studies and Integrated Studies programs. Depending on education and experience, the successful candidate may teach courses in the Master of Professional Studies program. In addition to teaching face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes, responsibilities will include working with the program director to assess degree student learning outcomes, serving as a mentor to temporary or adjunct faculty, conducting peer reviews of teaching, coordinating or assisting with special programs events for majors, and assisting with course development. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly activities and service at the university, professional, and public levels.

Required Education

A terminal degree with at least 18 graduate hours in organizational communication, English, higher education administration, industrial-organizational psychology, statistics, or an interdisciplinary field from an accredited college or university is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience teaching upper-division courses, working with non-traditional student populations, and working within interdisciplinary studies programs. Special consideration will also be given to applicants with administrative and teaching experience in higher education.
