Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Accounting in the Jennings A. Jones College of Business at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) invites applicants for two tenure-track faculty positions (#110070 and #110280) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. All areas of accounting will be considered, but the department has a particular interest in applicants with expertise in financial accounting or tax. The selected candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses. The start date for the positions is August 1, 2024.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching innovation, including teaching in online formats and incorporating data analytics. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching in accordance with MTSU’s mission as an R2 university and the Department of Accounting’s status as an AACSB-accredited accounting program.

The Department of Accounting has been AACSB accredited since 2004 and is comprised of faculty committed to excellence in teaching and recognized leaders in their respective disciplines. The faculty also has an impressive collective footprint in academic research, practitioner research, and service to the academy, university, and community. Required Education

A terminal degree in accounting or a juris doctorate with an LLM in taxation from an accredited institution is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants who have earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or other accounting-related professional certification will receive special consideration.
