Job Summary/Basic Function
The School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#131300) in Cello and Academic Studies at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching applied cello to undergraduate and graduate students, including a weekly studio class for music majors, teaching string techniques, literature, and pedagogy, and conducting/coaching string chamber ensembles. Additionally, the successful candidate will actively recruit cello students for undergraduate and graduate music degree programs and for performance in ensembles; perform as a soloist with faculty colleagues and with visiting artists; and teach core undergraduate required courses in music theory, music appreciation, music history or closely related subjects. The successful candidate must maintain an active research or creative activity agenda. They will also serve the University and School of Music and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education
A terminal degree in music is required by the appointment date.
