Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#145120) at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Audio Production and Electronic Music. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include teaching selected courses from the electronic music production track at the undergraduate and graduate levels. These courses teach in-depth theory and applications of technologies such as sound synthesis, MIDI, and digital audio. Courses are taught in the department’s computer labs equipped with Mac computers, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and multiple hardware and software MIDI instruments. Other responsibilities may include teaching courses in the audio production curriculum (studio recording, live sound, and sound for picture), depending on the successful candidate's area of specialization(s).

Required Education
A terminal degree in recording industry or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A master’s degree in recording industry or a closely related field with five (5) years or a bachelor's degree in recording industry or a closely related field with ten (10) years of commercial experience in the music and recording industry may be considered in lieu of a terminal degree.
Other Desirables
Applicants with the following will receive special consideration.
- Higher education teaching experience in electronic music production in a computer lab and/or recording studio.
- Recording industry accomplishments as a professional in commercial styles (studio or live).
- Skills in controllerism, virtual film scoring, modular synthesizer programming, sampling, Max/MSP programming, and related areas.
