Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Engineering Technology at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#105180) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will have the ability, interest, and commitment to excel in teaching, research, and public service and will be expected to
- Develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses (lecture and laboratory) in digital systems design, automation & controls, microcontrollers, robotics, mechatronic systems, automation & controls, and other related subjects.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate research and capstone design projects.
- Pursue scholarly activities, including developing an externally funded research program and publishing peer-reviewed journal articles. A startup package will allow the successful candidate to bootstrap research activities in their first two years.
- Engage in academic mentoring.
- Engage local industry through outreach events, on-campus career fairs, professional meetings, etc.
- Assist in program assessments and executing the department’s continuous improvement plan.
- Participate in appropriate professional services, activities, organizations, and public service.
Required Education
A terminal degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with industrial experience, an established teaching and research record at the college level, and those with a PE license will receive special consideration.
