Duties and Responsibilities:
• Improve student outcomes through college-wide benchmarks that are supported by every academic school, department, and unit of the College;
• Provide college-wide leadership in the areas of student engagement, student learning, career and academic pathways, and faculty and staff development;
• Lead an ongoing, comprehensive, integrated, research-based planning and assessment processes to focus on institutional quality and effectiveness and incorporate a systematic review of institutional goals and outcomes consistent with the College’s mission.
• Effect continuous improvement through an institutional planning and assessment process that involves all programs, services, and constituencies; is linked to the decision-making process at all levels; and provides a sound basis for budgetary decisions and resource allocations.
• Prepare and manage budgets consistent with strategic goals and institutional outcomes;
• Provide leadership and guidance in the development of class schedules, college catalogs, course and program publications, and other key academic reports and documents that meet the goals and priorities of the College, as well as established quality and accreditation standards;
• Provide expert leadership to the college community in developing innovative student programs and initiating national best practices;
• Support, encourage, and implement professional development opportunities for faculty, which will provide training and development in various modalities of instructional delivery as well as leadership advancement;
• Demonstrate an effective blend of patience, persistence, compassion, and urgency coupled with the ability to listen, model collaboration, set goals and lead efforts to address difficult challenges for the good of the College and the System;
• Possess the knowledge base and foresight needed to effectively evaluate programs and identify existing and emerging programs of study for institutional investment; exhibit commitment with the demonstrated ability to articulate and carry out effective strategies for increasing and supporting faculty, staff, and students from diverse populations; and
• Performs all duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chancellor.
Required Education: Doctorate from a university accredited by an authorized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Required Experience:
• Experience in academic leadership working at a large, comprehensive community college or university;
• Minimum of six (6) years of leadership experience at the dean level or higher in a community college or university setting;
• Demonstrated experience in providing academic instruction or training in a formal setting;
• Demonstrated experience in increasing student access/enrollment as well as increasing retention, transfer, and graduation rates of students;
• Proven leadership experience in institutional and academic program accreditation and reaffirmation processes;
• Demonstrated experience in working with academic deans and faculty members on all aspects of academic curriculum and program development, delivery, evaluation, and improvement, as well as faculty and staff professional development;
• Proven experience in and commitment to participatory governance with meaningful involvement of all constituent groups;
• Demonstrated levels of excellence in forming, cultivating, and maintaining strategic alliances with economic development organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and the community;
• Experience with securing grants and external resources for academic programs and services; and
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of members of the college community.
