Duties and Responsibilities:
Work Habits: 25%
• Provides strategic and operational leadership for the TRIO SSS program to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) grant requirements.
• Develops, implements, and assesses annual program objectives, services, and student outcomes.
• Coordinates the distribution of services and programs to satellite campuses through scheduling, technology platforms (ConexED, Blumen, MS Teams), and on-site engagement.
• Directs the design and delivery of academic support services, including tutoring, workshops, financial aid literacy, and transfer preparation.
• Ensures individualized student success plans and academic coaching are provided for all program participants.
• Facilitates student-centered programming such as college tours, transfer planning, and career exploration.
Behavioral Standards: 15%
• Manages the daily operations, including scheduling, service delivery, and reporting for multiple campuses.
• Ensures efficient management of program resources, facilities, and logistics.
• Monitors adherence to federal regulations, institutional policies, and grant objectives.
• Prepares and submits the Annual Performance Report (APR) and other federal reports in collaboration with the Offices of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants.
• Oversees budget management and ensures expenditures align with EDGAR guidelines.
• Maintains accurate student records and ensure participant eligibility requirements are met.
Institutional Support: 10%
• Collaborate with college leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure TRIO SSS initiatives align with institutional goals and federally mandated student success objectives.
• Support recruitment, retention, persistence, and graduation efforts for TRIO participants through high-quality services, programming, and individualized support.
• Assist with budget development, financial oversight, and resource allocation to ensure efficient and compliant use of federal grant funds.
• Serve as an advocate for TRIO students, providing guidance and addressing concerns related to academic progress, access to services, and barriers to success.
• Lead efforts to cultivate a supportive learning environment where first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students feel connected, empowered, and supported.
• Promote TRIO SSS visibility and student pride through workshops, events, college tours, and cultural enrichment opportunities.
• Represent the TRIO program and South Louisiana Community College at professional TRIO conferences, networking events, and community partnerships to strengthen program impact and institutional presence.
Team Relations: 10%
• Develop and implement outreach and communication strategies to promote TRIO SSS services, workshops, and events to eligible students across all campuses.
• Utilize social media, email campaigns, and digital platforms to increase student awareness, participation, and engagement in TRIO opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and review of TRIO-related policies and procedures, ensuring they foster accessibility, inclusivity, and compliance with federal guidelines.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Counseling Services, and other departments to build integrated support systems that enhance academic success, persistence, and transfer readiness for TRIO students.
• Provide ongoing training and professional development for TRIO staff to ensure best practices in advising, coaching, data management, and student support services.
• Represent the TRIO SSS program and South Louisiana Community College at campus events, community functions, and professional TRIO conferences to strengthen program visibility and external partnerships.
• Serves as the primary liaison with the U.S. Department of Education TRIO office.
• Build partnerships with four-year institutions to enhance transfer opportunities.
• Collaborates with internal SoLAcc offices such as Advising, Financial Aid, Disability Services, and Career Services to maximize student success.
• Engage in community outreach to increase awareness of TRIO services.
Leadership: 30%
• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program, ensuring alignment with federal TRIO objectives, institutional goals, and student success priorities.
• Set clear program objectives, develop long-term strategies, and establish measurable outcomes to assess progress toward achieving federally mandated grant performance indicators.
• Oversee the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of TRIO SSS staff, including Student Success Navigators and the Program Assistant.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement by providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for program staff.
• Establish performance expectations for staff and provide regular feedback to ensure high-quality delivery of TRIO services across all assigned campuses.
• Manage the federal grant budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support program services, events, and initiatives while maintaining compliance with EDGAR regulations.
• Ensure financial accountability by monitoring spending, preparing budget reports, and working with institutional leadership to sustain and expand TRIO programming.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the U.S. Department of Education and campus leadership, ensuring timely submission of the Annual Performance Report (APR) and other required federal documentation.

Required Education:
Associate's degree in education or related field
Required Experience:
• Three years of professional experience in higher education, TRIO programs, or student support services or a K-12 educational setting working with grant programs, specialized populations, or similar.
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues facing first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students.
• Experience with grant-funded programs, including compliance and reporting.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications.
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor's degree in education, student services or related program.
Preferred Experience:
• Three years of professional experience in higher education, TRIO programs, or student support services or a K-12 educational setting working with grant programs, specialized populations, or similar.
• Previous experience as a TRIO professional or in federally funded student support programs.
• Familiarity with DOE and/or institutional reporting systems (e.g., Blumen, ConexED, G5, Degree Works).
• Strong data management and assessment skills.
• Bilingual or multilingual ability to support diverse student populations.
