Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching and Direct Instructional Activities
Teach the equivalent of at least 3-credit hours each fall and spring semester (clinical, lab, classroom replacement/assignment).
In the absence of an assigned faculty member, provide instruction in the classroom, lab, or clinical setting.

Accreditation
Participate in all programmatic accreditation and approval activities which include but are not limited to self-study preparation, on-site visits, and annual report submissions.

Leadership
Understand and adhere to all applicable Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges (LCTC) policies, SOWELA policies, as well as those in the Faculty Handbook.
Understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to disclosure of student records.
Promote an atmosphere of collegiality within and between the various schools, programs, and student support services.
Promote a culture of service to students, faculty, staff, prospective students, and community members.
Collaborate with the Dean to ensure effective and efficient functioning of advisory committees for all academic programs.
Collaborate with the Dean to provide leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining curriculum and programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and which meet the external requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and School Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and other Nursing and Allied Health accrediting bodies.
Understand and adhere to the professional scope, standards, codes, rules and regulations of Professional Governing Bodies for the programs in the School of Nursing and Allied Health.
Provide leadership for and work with other college departments to enhance the visibility, enrollment, and resources of all Nursing and Allied Health programs.
Represent the Academic Affairs division at college-wide, instructional, and community meetings in the absence of the Dean.

Personnel
Collaborate with the Dean in the recruitment, selection, and recommendation of candidates who meet appropriate credentialing standards for program coordinator, and full-time and adjunct faculty positions.
Determine the eligibility and verify the credentials of faculty to teach in the Nursing and Allied Health programs.
Assist the Dean with the orientation and mentoring of new faculty, full time and adjunct.
Assist the Dean with annual orientation of new and returning clinical adjunct faculty for all programs.
Supervise and facilitate the needs of instructional staff in accordance with institutional policies, regulations, and procedures.
Facilitate participation in professional development activities for faculty in the Nursing and Allied Health programs.
Assist the Nursing and Allied Health Program Coordinators and Directors with recruiting and hiring full-time and adjunct faculty.
Monitor payroll and timesheets in the absence of the Dean.
Collaborate with the Dean on annual evaluations for all faculty and staff.

Curriculum
Work closely with the Dean in the development of new courses and/or programs of study.
Collaborate with the Dean to ensure the curriculum for Nursing and Allied Health programs is being followed by faculty.
Promote the development of innovative instructional methodologies that enhance student success.

Budget
Work with program coordinators, program directors, and faculty to establish needs and priorities for program expenditures and growth and report findings to the Dean.
Identify resources for the development of new programs, initiatives, equipment and supplies for new or current programs.
Ensure the maintenance, security, and annual inventory of equipment for main campus and each instructional site.
Recommend to the Dean and forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment and supplies.
Coordinate with the Skills Lab Coordinator and the program coordinators at each instructional site to ensure that equipment inventory in the classrooms and laboratories is effectively procured and maintained.

Student Issues
Participate in the resolution of student grievances.
In coordination with program coordinators, oversee final degree audits prior to submission to the Dean and the Office of Enrollment Management.
Approve course substitution waivers or registration overrides upon recommendation from appropriate program coordinators and the Dean of Arts and Sciences or another appropriate Dean.

Organization
Participate in assigned committee activities.
Monitor course scheduling, faculty assignments, and calendars for academic affairs.
Develop and present recommendations and reports as requested.

Initiates personnel actions such as hiring, coaching, developing, evaluating, and disciplining. Prepares work schedules; assigns or delegates responsibilities. Monitors payroll and time sheets. Sets deadlines to ensure completion of the division or department functions.

Responsible for planning, controlling, communicating, and implementing procedures and processes for the overall efficient operations of the department or division.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Master’s degree in Nursing
Must meet faculty qualifications through LSBN, LSBPNE, and clinical agencies; maintain a current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana or one of the Compact Member States

Required Experience: Two years in the concentration hired to teach (Medical-Surgical, Maternal Child, Pediatrics, Mental Health); Teaching in a higher education setting for a minimum of 3 years

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of instructional needs, principles and practices of college-level instructional administration, principles of supervision including performance appraisal, methods and techniques of faculty and student recruitment and counseling, and principles of budget development and administration.

Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment and networked personal computers.

Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in a variety of software, including but not limited to Office 365 apps.

Skilled at communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and written, at all levels.

Ability to perform basic mathematical computations needed to complete job tasks.

Skilled at planning, organizing, and prioritizing job duties to meet deadlines.

Maintaining interpersonal professional working relationships at all levels – students, peers, and Executives.

Leadership and management skills sufficient to lead a staff, potentially operating on a rotating schedule in multiple locations.

Required Licenses or Certifications: 

Preferred Education: Doctorate in Nursing

Preferred Experience: Programmatic accreditation; Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Accreditation
