Duties and Responsibilities:
85% Complete requests for analysis and programming. Design reports and data structures to meet complex business needs. Prepare detailed specifications from which reports are developed and coded. Task execution is based on project management methodology.
Respond to, triage, mitigate, and resolve issues, concerns, problems, and constituent-based indications that assigned implementations are not working as expected.
Create ad hoc queries using SQL for data requests and auditing needs.
10% Create and maintain documentation, e.g., setup documentation for training, user procedures, internal policies, disaster recovery, and incident response plans.
5% Staying well-informed about new systems analysis and programming techniques is encouraged. Perform related duties as required or assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Required Experience:
• Must have 3 to 5 years of experience using SQL and Cognos, or a similar reporting tool
• Experience with Oracle database management, including writing and optimizing SQL
queries with complex joins and nested logic.
• Experience developing requirements for analytic reporting solutions based on a
variety of users’ needs
• Experience developing, deploying, and refining prototype reporting systems to
support ad-hoc analysis, business process reporting, and refinement of requirements
for production systems
• Experience working and communicating at various organizational levels, both within
and outside the organization, e.g., management, steering committees, technical IT
staff, and end-users.
• Ability to work independently as well as in team-oriented, collaborative environments
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Preferred Experience:
• 5+ years of experience developing, deploying, and refining prototype reporting
systems to support ad-hoc analysis, business process reporting, and refinement of
requirements for production systems
• Strong SQL Experience
• Familiarity with Ellucian Banner
• Experience working in higher education
