Job Title: Strategic Communication Faculty

Summary of Position:    The Division of Modern Language, Literature & Communication at Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Strategic Communication, specializing in public relations. The division sees communication as service, in response to the university’s mission as a “Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world by developing students in scholarship, leadership and character.”

The ideal candidate should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Start date Fall 2024, pending funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The faculty member will teach Strategic Communication/Public Relations courses and advise Strategic Communication students
  • Additional teaching contributions are possible in upper-level Communication courses and general education courses (such as the public speaking/interpersonal hybrid)
  • The faculty member will advise the nationally accredited chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and give general support to PR-related internships, student-faculty communication research and community service campaigns

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Doctorate in Communication or related field is preferred. Applicants who are ABD or who have a master’s degree and are willing to pursue a doctorate will be considered

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in public relations or related fields strongly desired

Required Skills

  • Applicants should demonstrate the ability to combine engaged teaching with scholarly endeavors
