Job Title: Skilled Trades Technician - MEP

Reporting Relationship: Director of Mechanical Systems

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Facilities Management-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Maintenance Building

Summary of Position:    The primary responsibilities of the Skilled Trades Technician are: Provide support to Facilities Services team through competent completion of daily work assignments. These assignments will include Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems related maintenance tasks.

Work as liaison for after-business-hours communication between Campus personnel and Maintenance Supervision team. Accomplish additional scheduled maintenance tasks including but not limited to swimming pool maintenance, periodic equipment testing, and event set-ups.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • May be required to work overtime as directed by supervision
  • Troubleshoot and/or repair mechanical systems and equipment 
  • Assist in the completion of scheduled work assignments 
  • Act as first responder for maintenance issues on Campus during after-hours operations 
  • Provide quality customer service and carry-out position responsibilities as assigned with integrity
  • Participate as requested in committees or councils that pertain to this position 
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with Indiana Wesleyan University's mission and goals 
  • Support the policies of the University with integrity 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity in all facets of interaction within campus, community and personal relations

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a maintenance related field (Mechanical Equipment-HVAC, Electrical systems, or Plumbing trades), indicating competency in assessing and repairing basic to advanced system repairs

Required Skills

  • Highly attentive to details, self-starter, and ability to work without close supervision
  • Creative and innovative; gifted in problem solving; talented planner and organizer
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; discerning and tactful
