Job Title: Talent Acquisition Specialist

Reporting Relationship: Talent Acquisition Manager

Unit: Central Administration

Department: Human Resources-Central Administration

Campus Location: Maxwell Center

Summary of Position:    This position will identify, attract, and screen pipelines of qualified candidates to help scale and support our employee growth. As part of our Talent Team, this person will play a key role in helping others across campus achieve their goals by sourcing and recruiting talented and mission-driven individuals. This key role is crucial in achieving our staffing goals and ensuring that both hiring managers and candidates experience a seamless, high-quality hiring process.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Talent Strategy Execution:
    • Collaborate with leadership to implement and execute the staffing strategy at IWU
    • Ensure the hiring process reflects the highest standards and embodies IWU’s values
    • Assist in streamlining and enhancing the employee experience from recruitment through onboarding
    • Identify and implement best practices to improve the overall talent acquisition process
    • Support diversity recruiting strategy to continually grow a diverse qualified candidate pipeline
    • Track key recruiting and campus metrics to analyze the success of the program and continue to look at new and innovative ways to improve it
    • Provide instruction to end users on process, software, utilization, etc. 
  • Sourcing and Candidate Management:
    • Create and manage job postings for faculty, staff, and temporary positions using the applicant tracking system
    • Actively source Exempt and Non-exempt candidates through various channels, including LinkedIn, job boards, social media, and networking events
    • Conduct initial screenings and interviews with potential candidates, including passive candidates
    • Oversee social media advertising for open positions 
  • Event Planning and Logistics:
    • Organize and coordinate on-site and off-site hiring events and career fairs. Attend events, as needed (~10% of the time)
    • Manage logistics to ensure smooth execution of these events
    • Participate in National & Global divisional events and activities 
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure all hired candidates complete necessary background checks and compliance requirements (e.g., I-9)
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
    • Generate and maintain reports related to hiring activities and compliance
    • Maintain strict confidentiality 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in business, psychology, training and development or related field preferred

Experience

  • Candidates must have at least three (3) years of professional experience and a keen interest in talent acquisition and recruitment
  • Excellent relationship-building skills are necessary for developing community partnerships, along with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail along with good decision making and the ability to maintain confidentiality is crucial for this role
  • Experience in developing, managing, and implementing processes and procedures is critical

Required Skills

  • Prior experience as a recruiter or sourcing specialist is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Willingness to step outside of comfort zone and try new methodologies and approaches to continuously drive innovation across all university programs
  • Excellent presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate/present to different audience sizes
