Job Title: Adjunct Faculty Engineering

Reporting Relationship: Chair, Division of Mathematic, Engineering, and Computer Science

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: School of Physical & Applied Sciences-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Ott Hall of Sciences & Nursing

Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend remote or onsite and lead all required class sessions 
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system) 
  • Coordinate with Program Director, Division Chair, and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or closely related field

Experience

  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level preferred
  • Ability to implement effective teaching strategies

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a supportive learning environment for students, and collaboratively work with other faculty members and staff
  • Ability to use learning management systems, various Microsoft applications for lectures, and Microsoft Outlook for emails
