Job Title: Adjunct Faculty for The Center for Academic Thriving

Reporting Relationship: Dean of Student Thriving

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: School of Arts & Humanities

Campus Location: Barnes Student Center, Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and lead all required class sessions 
  • Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university's learning management system) 
  • Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Master's degree required

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support diverse student populations
  • Proven experience in facilitating personal and professional development programs, including workshops on topics such as leadership, communication, goal-setting, and career readiness
  • Background in curriculum development and classroom facilitation, incorporating culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Experience providing one-on-one mentorship and small-group mentoring, focusing on academic success, personal growth, and professional preparation
  • Strong understanding of career development strategies, including resume building, networking, mock interviews, and connecting students to internship or employment opportunities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster an engaging and supportive learning environment
