Summary of Position: Indiana Wesleyan University’s School of Integrated Learning and Development (SILD) invites applications for a dynamic, innovative, and mission-driven Full-Time Faculty member in Special Education. This position will provide academic leadership for the Special Education curriculum, guide CEC SPA accreditation and recognition processes in both Indiana and Ohio, and play a pivotal role in launching and sustaining a new 90-credit hour Bachelor of Education in Special Education. We are seeking a forward-thinking educator who embraces creativity, innovation, and transformative design in teacher preparation. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep expertise in Special Education, fluency in curriculum design frameworks including mastery, competency, standards, and outcomes-based models; as well as instructional approaches such as differentiated instruction and project, inquiry, and experiential-based learning, along with the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to advance teaching effectiveness, candidate development, and program innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of the 90-credit hour Bachelor of Education in Special Education
Provide leadership and oversight for the undergraduate and graduate Special Education curriculum, ensuring alignment with CEC, CAEP, InTASC, and state standards (IN and OH)
Lead and manage CEC SPA accreditation and recognition processes, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in fully online formats, modeling excellence in digital pedagogy
Integrate AI platforms and emerging technologies to enhance instruction, assessment, and program innovation
Collaborate with the Office of Clinical Experiences to ensure quality placements and evaluation processes
Mentor and supervise adjunct faculty, promoting excellence in online teaching and adult learner engagement
Engage in scholarship, professional development, and service aligned with IWU’s mission and SILD’s vision
Provide mentorship and academic guidance to adjunct faculty within the Special Education program. May assist in evaluation, onboarding, and faculty development initiatives

Education
Earned doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Special Education or a closely related field required
Valid, but not current, licensure in P-12 area
Experience
Demonstrated experience in Special Education teacher preparation, accreditation processes (CEC preferred), and curriculum leadership
Experience with curriculum design frameworks (mastery and competency education design strongly preferred)
K-12 teaching experience, and higher education teaching experience required
Required Skills
High knowledge, skill, and applied use of AI platforms in education
Expertise in various curriculum design frameworks, instructional approaches and assessment alignment
Strong understanding of CEC, CAEP, InTASC, and state licensure standards
Excellence in online teaching and digital instructional design
Ability to think creatively and lead innovative program development
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
