Summary of Position: The Senior Enrollment Counselor has primary responsibility for enrolling students and supporting their initial retention for assigned degree programs and certifications. Serving as the primary representative of Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) to prospective students, this individual must possess in-depth knowledge of the programs offered and a strong understanding of the target audiences for whom these programs are designed.
Working closely with the Director of Enrollment, the Enrollment Counselor helps develop, implement, and refine strategies to recruit, enroll, and retain students, ensuring a seamless and positive experience throughout the discovery, admissions, and onboarding process. The Enrollment Counselor guides prospective students in exploring their educational options and supports them in making informed decisions aligned with their goals and learning styles.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate full ownership of an individual enrollment pipeline, consistently achieving or exceeding performance goals related to applications, admits, and starts, while maintaining strong pipeline health and movement
- Maintain a disciplined and strategic approach to daily activity, optimizing the balance between recruitment efforts (calls, talk time, emails, texts) and student service responsibilities (application completion, financial clearance, registration, and start readiness)
- Monitor and proactively manage performance against key metrics, including speed-to-lead, contact rates, application conversion, admit-to-start conversion, and overall enrollment production, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize outcomes
- Ensure a high level of accuracy and completeness in CRM data management (e.g., Salesforce), supporting reliable reporting, forecasting, and operational decision-making
- Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in identifying and responding to potential fraud indicators (e.g., identity inconsistencies, behavioral anomalies, documentation concerns), ensuring timely escalation and adherence to institutional protocols
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Financial Aid, Enrollment Operations, Advising, and Academic leadership to remove barriers and ensure student progression

Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Enrollment Counselor II with IWU; or three (3) years of commensurate experience in adult higher education enrollment
Required Skills
- Prior experience in student recruitment, admissions, advising, or related fields
- Excellent knowledge of assigned degree programs and understanding of relevant target audiences
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with CRM systems and student record management
- Commitment to providing outstanding service to students and stakeholders
- Demonstrates working knowledge of AI tools approved for one’s role, including the ability to apply them appropriately, interpret outputs, and recognize limitations
