Campus Location: Ott Hall of Sciences & Nursing, Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time core faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program on the Marion, Indiana campus. The successful candidate should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching within the DPT program: Classroom/laboratory instruction related to the contemporary practice of physical therapy in assigned areas of expertise
  • Research/scholarly activities as required by CAPTE
  • Participation in advisement and mentoring of students
  • Active involvement in program admissions and accreditation activities
  • Service to the Program, School, and University, including committee involvement
  • Active involvement in development, assessment, and revision of the DPT curriculum

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education program providing the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree
  • Earned academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS) in physical therapy or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice required; experience as a clinical instructor and/or faculty member in an academic institution preferred
  • Active involvement in the physical therapy profession and an understanding of key issues in physical therapy education
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist in Indiana or immediate eligibility required
  • Previous experience in management of patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disorders, including teaching entry-level courses

Required Skills

  • Ability to teach and evaluate students in the specialized area of clinical expertise, cardiovascular and pulmonary preferred
  • Ability to advise and motivate students
  • Able to design and conduct independent or collaborative research in areas of specialization
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, including colleagues who represent a variety of work and conflict resolution styles
