Job Title: Jointer – Highways Electrical

Base Location: Exeter, Plymouth or Barnstaple  

Salary:  £31,275 - £35,992 depending on skills and experience and working hours - Time Incentive Management (TIM) Bonus Scheme, plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: Full Time, 42 hours Monday – Friday 7am-4pm. Overtime there for those who want it.

Could you be our next Jointer to join the team and drive this success forwards?

What will I be doing in this role? 

As a Jointer, you will support the teams for the installation and removal of streetlighting and either highways’ electrical street furniture across the Devon region, including connections to DNO/IDNO Network.

In a typical day, you could expect to be;

  • Assisting with the erection and removal of street lighting columns and signs.
  • Alongside a Jointers Mate, providing joint holes, prepare cables for jointing and jointing of service/mains.
  • Driving general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role.
  • The operation of specialist plant and machinery including HGV with lorry mounted crane.
  • Carrying out risk assessments on site.
  • Attending emergency call outs as required.
  • Ensuring we deliver outstanding service to our clients and the general public  
  • Working to strict safety guidelines and regulations 

What do I need to be successful in the role?

We are looking for you to bring your experience as a Highways Electrical Jointer to the team along with the below tickets/authorisations;

  • Relevant authorisation (NG/WPD preferred)to carry out 3 phase underground connections to DNO/IDNO networks.
  • Qualification or experience to Work on Live LV Single Phase Service Cables and Terminations
  • Qualification or experience to Remove & Replace Cutout / Secondary Wiring Fuses – (Single phase only)
  • Qualification or experience to LV Supply Point Testing
  • Prior electrical experience, ideally street lighting or highways electrical Jointing
  • We do need you to have a full UK Driving Licence as we cover a wide range of locations
  • We work in all weathers! So you need to be the type of person who is happy working outdoors all year round

To achieve the higher salary, you will need to the additional following;

  • City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 or 2351 or 2330 levels 2 and 3 or approved equivalent.
  • Qualification or experience to Remove & Replace Cutout / Secondary Wiring Fuses – (Single or Three phase)

Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;

  • A current Street works qualification card (NRSWA)
  • It would be a benefit if you hold or have a good knowledge of the 18th Edition
  • If you are qualified to AM2, City and Guilds 2391 qualification this would be a benefit but not essential
  • Completion of a G39 Electrical Safety in the planning, installation, commissioning and maintenance of public lighting and other street furniture training Course
  • Cat 4C - Work on Live LV O/H Mains Conductors, Service Joints and Terminations
  • An HGV Class 2 Licence

We can however support the right candidate to achieve any level of industry training/qualifications they may not have in the ‘nice to have’ list.
