Job Title: High Voltage Designer

Base Location: Slough, Southampton or Swindon

Salary: £40,958 - £63,353 depending on skills and experience and working hours, Car allowance, and annual bonus plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: Full time, Permanent.

Could you be our next HV Designer to join the team and drive this success forwards?

What will I be doing in this role? 

Enerveo have been awarded a prestigious LV/EHV contract for a DNO within the Wessex regions, the project consists of a full turnkey solution for design and build covering Reactive and Planned activities inclusive of design, planning, excavations, jointing and reinstatement, Enerveo will be assisting our client with all Faults and New connections up to 33Kv. 

In a  typical day, you could expect to be;

  • Designing high voltage systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
  • Producing preliminary and some detailed engineering designs from LV to 33Kv.
  • Conducting detailed calculations and simulations to optimize system performance including project cost estimates and reports.
  • Carry out site surveys for new and existing installations and provide survey reports to the wider team.
  • Managing the design process with DNO/IDNO and ICP to gain design approval.
  • Leading on the management of the customer through the design process.
  • Specifying technical, or major procurement item quotations.
  • Cable design, cable route feasibility surveys.
  • Providing design work for primary plant including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear including earthing studies, short-circuit forces calculation, cable rating calculations and short-circuit currents.
  • Liaising with and supporting the Operational teams on technical and planning matters to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Assisting and mentoring junior team members in their progress and development if needed.
  • Collaborating closely with engineers and stakeholders to integrate HV systems into larger projects.
  • Performing risk assessments and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.

What do I need to be successful in the role?

  • Possess a Degree/HND level qualification in a relevant Engineering subject or have equivalent work experience.
  • Electrical Distribution Design experience from LV, up to 33Kv.
  • Experienced in using AutoCAD software and modeling software such as Amtech/DIALux and Digisilent or equivalent software.
  • Experience in producing technical outline design documents to support the preconstruction phases of projects.
  • A sound understanding of distribution networks and key differences in approach to ICP/DNO/IDNO and privately owned HV infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate concepts and solutions to non-technical end clients.
  • Experience in managing Scada designs.
  • Solid organisational awareness and ability.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with good communication skills and a collaborative ethic.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;

  • Design Experience up to 132kV
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, such as NEC and IEEE.
