About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide trauma-informed care and support to children and young people living in residential care who have experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young people can build resilience, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build safe, therapeutic relationships with children and young people.
  • Provide daily care, household support, transport, and routine activities.
  • Support education, appointments, employment, and community participation.
  • Implement therapeutic care plans, behaviour support strategies, and safety plans.
  • Respond to complex behaviours using trauma-informed and de-escalation practices.
  • Administer medication and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with families, Child Safety, schools, and allied professionals.
  • Promote the safety, wellbeing, and cultural identity of every young person.

About You

  • Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain), National Police Check, First Aid & CPR, and unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
  • Diploma desired  or Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Disability, or a related field.
