As Financial Controller you will have broad operational responsibilities across RSM’s Group Finance function. Reporting to the Director of Group Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the financial accounting and FP&A teams as well as supporting the Director of Group Finance in developing and implementing strategy for the broader Group Finance division.

This role will work closely with the Director of Group Finance as well as partners and senior leaders at RSM and is supported by the Financial Accounting Manager and the FP&A Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day to day finance operations including treasury management, financial planning and analytics, payables, receivables and financial accounting.
  • Manage the delivery of key financial reports in accordance with agreed timeframes, providing technical assistance and guidance to team members as required.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process to deliver financial plans, insight and analysis to the Executive Board in accordance with agreed timeframes.
  • Assist operational business units with the development of financial plans, providing technical support, insight, analysis and challenging key assumptions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of external reporting and compliance matters including taxation and covenant reporting.
  • Design and maintain robust internal controls for key financial activities.
  • Oversee the delivery of financial forecasts, financial analyses, and commentary to support the Director of Group Finance and the Leadership Group.
  • Treasury management, including the preparation of cash flow forecasts, management of cash reserves, payment approvals and oversight of foreign currency transactions.
  • Co-ordinate resourcing across the Group Finance division, identifying resourcing needs and managing absences to ensure timely delivery of key activities.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing coaching and support to help them reach their growth potential.
  • Complete key activities in relation to partner profit distributions, including managing partner elections, maintaining beneficiary records, calculating payments and producing beneficiary reports.
  • Assisting the Director of Group Finance with the operation of the partner welfare policy, including calculation and communication of quarantined Leave and additional partner leave.
  • Managing financial compliance matters in relation to partner appointments and terminations.
  • Assisting the Director of Group Finance with adhoc activities and projects.

 

Essential

  • CA or equivalent
  • Degree Qualified
  • 3+ years in a senior role leading finance teams
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills
  • High level communication skills both written and verbal
  • Highly organised both in relation to personal and team activities
  • Ability to operate at all levels including at a transactional level where required
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with sound business acumen

Desirable

  • Experience of working in professional services firms
  • Experience with Workday / Adaptive Planning and experience with finance transformation
  • Experience with the taxation of trusts and trust accounting
