What you will be doing in this role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee Infection Prevention & Control across our hospital. This key role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive IPC strategy aligned with national and state standards, including NSQHS and the National Hand Hygiene Initiative.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will lead infection surveillance, audits, outbreak management, and risk mitigation. You’ll ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and provide expert guidance on infection control practices organisation wide.

This role also focuses on workforce development through ongoing education and training, while contributing to evidence-based policy through engagement with current research and emerging best practices.

We’re looking for a clinically experienced professional with strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills—someone ready to make a meaningful impact on patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Who we’re looking for

  • You’ll be a qualified Registered Nurse (NSW) with postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Infection Control; Master's in Infection Control completed or in progress highly regarded.
  • You’ll have extensive expertise in Infection Prevention & Control with over 5 years’ experience, including outbreak management and emergency preparedness in acute healthcare settings.
  • You’ll have a strong understanding of national standards, including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and evidence-based outcome measures.
  • You’ll have proven leadership and management capability, with experience leading teams, guiding clinical practice, and supporting multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • You’ll be technologically proficient, with solid computer literacy across the Microsoft Office suite and healthcare-related digital tools.
